To celebrate the Guan Yin Bodhisattva Festival (Birthday) on the 19th day of the 2nd lunar month, Sau Seng Lum Buddhist Temple (PJ) held the “Lamp Lighting for Blessing” event. Devotees worshipped and paid homage to the Bodhisattva and lit a lamp of peace for themselves, their elders, relatives, and friends, and to pray for the blessing of Guan Yin Bodhisattva. They also prayed for world peace and the well-being of the nation and country.

In conjunction with the festival, Sau Seng Lum Buddhist Temple also performed the recitation of the “Great Compassionate Repentance”, encouraging the devotees to repent of all the evil karma they have made in the past through virtue of the compassionate power of Guan Yin Bodhisattva and to develop Bodhicitta after repentance. By learning the spirit and practices of Guan Yin Bodhisattva, devotees should practice the compassion, wisdom, vows, and actions of Guan Yin Bodhisattva in their lives.

The Abbess, Rev. Chang Heng encouraged devotees to practice the Dharma in their lives and learn to give and care for the public with the compassion of Guan Yin Bodhisattva. As Guan Yin Bodhisattva is compassionate, wisdomful and Bodhi, therefore, when devotees often have compassion and mercy for sentient beings in life, everyone can become a Bodhisattva who seeks to save suffering because of this compassion.

Sau Seng Lum Buddhist Temple also distributed vegetarian lunch boxes to visitors during lunchtime (started from 11.30am), to form good relationships with the public.
