Diamond Bodhi Tree

The Diamond Bodhi Tree carries a significant meaning in Buddhism. It symbolizes the diamond-liked heart of Gautama Buddha which is so compassionate and determined in guiding people onto the spiritual practice with regards to right views and right conducts. Let us pay the highest respect and praises to all the Buddha, and wishing that we also have diamond-liked persistency to walk on the spiritual path.

Sprinkle of The Auspicious Dragons

In Buddhism there is Dragon Kings and Dharma Protectors, which refers to the eight classes of supernatural beings as described in the Lotus Sutra, who have come to the assembly to listen to the Buddha’s teaching and are happy to abide by the teaching and have therefore become the Dharma Protectors. The Sprinkle of Auspicious Dragons represents the focus to brighten up the mind in the learning of Buddhism, to sincerely reflect and repent in front of the auspicious dragons and to pray for the blessings by the Dragon Kings and Dharma Protectors.

Mount Jiuhua

Entering the Bodhi Garden of Sau Seng Lum, you will be greeted by Mount Jiuhua (literally “Nine Glorious Mountains), which was designed to recreated the breathtaking scenery of sacred mountains in China on a miniature scale. The entirely man made Mount Jiuhua at our garden is dominated by 1000 magnificent copper statues of Earth Store Bodhisattva that rest on the luminous rainbow-colored stripes. Eleven statues of Earth Store Bodhisattva stand at 6 feet height before the mountain as sturdy guardians of mankind. Let us pursue the spirits of Earth Store Bodhisattva, embrace all living beings and dedicate merits for the benefits of all. May this virtuous act dispel all the bad karma.

Avalokitesvara

A statue of Avalokiteśvara Bodhisattva is placed in the bamboo grove to prompt us to always adapt ourself to the circumstances in our life or our job, so as to be free and unrestrained and to achieve peace and happiness. As long as we are able to let go of anything in this world, we shall be free and unrestrained in whatever we do, i.e. move, stay, sit or sleep.

The Source Of Living Water

A compassionate heart is like living water giving out selflessly, quietly without ending. The source of the living water is in our heart and we vow that all sentient beings retain their compassion forever.

Buddha's Feet

The Buddha’s feet were erected at the garden of Sau Seng Lum as reminiscences of Gautama Buddha’s spiritual journey in search of enlightenment. Buddha has renounced the self-indulgence and self-mortificationin his search for the truth. One should venerate the feet of the Buddha and wishing the continuous spinning of the wheel of dharma; to cultivate our wisdom and pacify all delusions and negative thoughts. May there be thousand abundances and wisdom.

The Grand Hall

In 2011, three Buddha statues that were carved out from the Burmese jade were initiated and installed in the Grand Hall. Sitting in the centre position is Śākyamuni Buddha, the present Buddha in Sahā World; on his left is Medicine Buddha, the Buddha located at Vaidūryanirbhāsā which is situated to the east of the Sahā World; and on his right is Amitabha Buddha, the Buddha located at the Western Paradise (Pure land).

Three Sages in Saha World

Sau Seng Lum also initiated and installed Three Sages in Saha World within the temple. The three sages are Śākyamuni Buddha, Kṣitigarbha Bodhisattva and Goddess of Mercy Bodhisattva. These three sages always manifest in Saha World to teach and rescue sentient beings, and thus created great affection and affinity with earth and embracing principal and subsidiary causes. They are therefore called Three Sages in Saha World.

Maitreya Buddha

At the main entrance to the temple, there installed a gold-plated statue of Maitreya Buddha with his forever smiling face to welcome all visitors. The name Maitreya is derived from the Sanskrit word maitrī "loving-kindness", i.e. to give people the happiness, hope and brightness. As such we like to address Maitreya Buddha as Smiling Buddha, Happy Buddha. Pray to Maitreya Buddha and learn from the Buddha his tolerance, leniency and breadth of mind so that we too can let go of all worries.

Lapis Lazuli Cave

As the name reads, the cave is embedded with Lapis Lazuli, a semi-precious stone prized for its antiquity. The stones in the cave occur in crystallized form in the finest colors. The gentle flow and sound of waterfall together with the Buddha statues inside the cave create a tranquil ambience. Lapis Lazuli was once believed to have medicinal properties and was used in healing. Have a walk across the uniquely distinctive cave and may you be blessed with overall sense of wellbeing.
